Lisa Portolan is a writer from Sydney. Her debut novel Seesaw (Barringer, 2015) was released in Australia in December. Lisa also writes under the pseudonym Elijah Ashby, and has published Homer's Men and The Sudden Intrusion of Light under this handle. Her next novel is set to released by Double Dragon publishing in 2017.
By day she's a communications and marketing professional, and has worked on a number of large-scale advertising campaigns, and industry rebrands. She is also a freelance journalist, having had articles published in Gourmet Traveller and Feast Magazine and blogs for Huffington Post, Mamamia, Elephant Journal, Yoganonymous, Rebelle Society and HerCanberra.
She has a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism), Bachelor of International Studies and a Masters of International Studies and studied at the University of Technology Sydney, and L'Universita degli Studii, Bologna, Italy. She is currently completing her PhD at UTS on the happiness revolution.
She now lives in Canberra, with her husband (bar owner and craft beer guru), daughter, and two gracious hounds, Apollo and Juno.
